"It was a virus. An infection. You didn't need a doctor to tell you that. It was the blood. It was something in the blood. By the time they tried to evacuate the cities it was already too late. Army blockades were overrun. And that's when the exodus started. Before the TV and radio stopped broadcasting there were reports of infection in Paris and New York. We didn't hear anything more after that.’"

Character Name: Alice Lambert
PB: Alyssa Milano
Age: 32
Date of Birth: March 25
Residence: New York City
Profession: Police Officer
Appearance: Alice has jet black hair that she often ties up in a ponytail or keeps straight so that it covers her shoulders. Her eyes are a plain brown with small amber speckles towards the middle. Like most Americans, her skin is neither tanned nor overly pale, reminding others of her french heritage. She stands at average height for a woman, maybe a little taller than most and is built for speed rather than strength. Most of the time she wears casual clothing like jeans, a colored tank top and a leather jacket. While Alice knows she should be wearing her uniform, she's always been one for disobedience and doing things her way. She does, however, always keep her badge on her and a few guns of course.
Personality: While some would describe Alice as a loose canon, she can have her civil moments. A lover of fighting and guns, its hard to tell if she really enjoys the idea of a zombie invasion or not. Alice has always been hot headed when it comes to getting the job done; she is reckless and would easily put herself on the line just to save even one life. Above all else she believes that she has been put on this earth to guard others at all costs; a duty that she takes to heart. Most of the time she jokes around with others and will rarely be serious unless someone is in trouble, even then she tries to make light out of the darkest of situations.
Alice gives life her all; she's used to skirting around rules and regulations that others would abide. She knows that in order to get what is right in life certain protocol must be thrown away. While some might say she has a love for violence, others could easily say she loves the idea of protecting others far too much. Alice rarely gets depressed over the past because in her eyes its good and done with, and she looks towards the future instead. She's always trying new things and likes to 'play with fire' as some might phrase it.
History: Alice comes from a long line of business men and woman, which is why her career as a cop has never really been understood by her family. While the rest of her family would be considered rich and reserved, Alice is the black sheep among them. She comes from French wealth and has had access to the best jobs in the world but her one true love is cop work, and she would never change that.
Even once she had been accepted into the academy, Alice worked up a long line of disobedience files when she became a full fledged officer. Her philosophies were get the job done no matter what rules you had to break, though not to the point where anyone would get hurt. Ten years later she took part in a hostage situation that nearly got herself killed to save the girl. Her commanding officer took it in his place to demote her to desk work for the rest of her career.
Fortunately for Alice, this was not to be the case. After the outbreak Alice's particular branch of officers was overtaken by zombie hoards and only she and another officer made it out. Alice's division destroyed, she had nowhere else to go but wherever her heart desired. Now she spends her time fighting the infection with whomever she can find and helping rescue civilians. While Alice knows her parents are dead, she also searches for her younger sister Jane, though she figures that the girl is good and gone.

From one side of the table, Alice could see the way that the chiefs mustache twitched back and forth. It was as if he were debating two sides of an argument with each movement. She'd seen this sort of behavior before; it was the chief silently exploding. He knew that she'd done a bad, heck, even she knew that she'd done a bad. Now the two were faced with the dilemma of the decision. Was he going to send her off to police boarding school or was she going to get a slap on the wrist again and move back to the same old habits?
Papers were placed in front of them and the chief crossed his fingers, perplexed.
"Alice..." he said like he was an old pal, "you know I can't let you work in the field anymore."
A twang of sorrow made her heart swoop down, causing a sort of free fall in her chest, but Alice remained stoic. She might have messed up protocol but she'd saved that girls life. There was a difference between being blindly stupid and being stupid. She leaned back in her chair, twiddling her fingers over a pen that had been sitting at the desk since her arrival. Alice imagined that she'd have to sign something and she hoped that it was a note for resignment.
"Now, I don't want to fire you, so i'm assigning you to desk work until further notice, I need you to sign this paper," he said the words fast, like he were nervous about telling her that, Alice knew he was.
She raised her eyebrow as he shuffled the papers over to her. They were filled with small print and a few bars with the words sign here and print here. Nimble fingers picked them up and she took her sweet time reading each of the lines, watching that mustache twitch back and forth as the chief waited for her reactions. There was no escaping it. This had been her destiny, she knew that this was coming, cop work was over for her. They would never put her back on the field. But that didn't mean she wouldn't go out trying.
Tearing her eyes away from the paper for a second, she looked into the chiefs eyes without a word and signed the paper, nearly ripping it in the process. Without a word she slid it back over to the chief and waited silently for her punishment to begin.
