"It was a virus. An infection. You didn't need a doctor to tell you that. It was the blood. It was something in the blood. By the time they tried to evacuate the cities it was already too late. Army blockades were overrun. And that's when the exodus started. Before the TV and radio stopped broadcasting there were reports of infection in Paris and New York. We didn't hear anything more after that.’"

Character Name: Nathaniel William Zimmer
Age: 43
Date of Birth: September 28th
Residence: Previously from Oxford. Was on holiday just outside of Long Island.
Profession: Doctor/Pediatrician
Appearance: Nathaniel Zimmer is a very lanky and tall man at 6'3. He's quite skinny but that is from playing tennis, one of his favorite sports along with cross country running. He has a pair of reading glasses that he'll occasionally wear, but usually they're tucked away in his pocket for safe keeping. He has lightly colored hair and gentle hazel eyes. He prefers the indoors so he is of the fair complexion. He also has a few light freckles on his face.
Nathaniel loves his suits and loafers and even when relaxing he is in somewhat formal attire. He is a propper British gentlemen by all accounts.
Personality: Nathaniel is a quiet, soft spoken, very shy man. He can barely speak to adults (even those that are younger than him) which is why he became a Pediatrician. He is able to speak to children rather efficiently and they tend to trust him immensely. He prefers the company of a good book to anything else and is easily overwhelmed when he is scolded or yelled at. At times he acts a great deal like a wounded puppy.
History: Nathaniel was raised by his single mother which is probably why he is so quiet and such a gentleman. She raised her boy up 'right' teaching him how to cook, clean, and favored him with his learning. She spoiled him as much as she could on her low income and Nathaniel idolizes the woman for all that she was able to do given her situation.
He graduated top of his university with honors, always excelling in schoolwork along with tennis which earned him numerous scholarships. Upon graduating he was promptly offered a fellowship with a hospital in his hometown of Oxford. His mother was ridiculously proud and Nathaniel was glad that he could make her so happy. He never married, not because of anything other than his shyness, and he still feels like a schoolboy around the opposite sex.
Nathaniel Zimmer was in town on vacation for a seminar for Doctors just outside Long Island at the time of the infection. Now he has banded together with the first person he came across that gave him a second look because he is a very codependent personality. He needs to be told what to do and how to function just to get by. If he loses that, he has nothing.
